Mornig all.
My '78 sr has a honda drum front, and the forks aren't the original sr items.
The drum looks really traditional, but I'm leaning towards putting the twin disks back on the front, more likely to keep me out of trouble.
Are there any traps to look out for when doing this? Something thats not obvious when I go about looking to do it? I know I'll need a diff hub etc, may be even easier to source a diff wheelm so I can more easily go between both.
Anyway this projects down the list, just curious.
Also, what are popular complete fron't end coversions, or whats the most radical you've seen? What should we be keeoing an eye out for at the wreckers?

Hi, You are able to source a wire spoked, alloy rimmed 19" front wheel for the SR's that is genuine and will take 2 discs...check out the wreckers, perhaps Vic wreck in Melb.. I noted that there is a complete '90's model SR ('94?) for wrecking in Sydney at the moment. Front drum and all. These drums are a really good brake (...I tried one on an SR here last Jan...very strong ) and they look very nice too...like the XS1 Yam front drum. (Metro Motorcycle Spares - 9748 7217...) ...that bike looks to have a lot of good bits on it...looks like it has Japanese rear sets and the original forks as well. Plus the later genuine Yam oil line that goes to the front rocker pivot...that model may even have the polished alloy cam chain adjuster cover too...check it out... The XS650 front wheel fits pretty well also...that will take 2 discs...lots of people have done that mod. You'd need to get an SR front caliper and one from an XS250 as well...L and R sides. You'd also need to source a twin disc front master cylinder...perhaps an XJ750?? SR

Thanks Stew,
I have most of the bits required, the owner kept the calipers etc. That SR being wrecked sounds bloody briliant, I'll have to check that out.
Is there a website? I'll google it....
Thanks mate.

Here's the link to Metropolitan M/C Wreckers in Sydney: www.motorcyclewreckers.comThey quite often bring SR's in from Japan - but only for parts. Some of them come with fancy parts too like aftermarket exhausts, rear sets, oil temp gauges. Rgdz CL
