My wife just got her MC license. We bought an SR 500 about a month ago. The stated intent is we would share it until my Triumph is ready (about a year from now). Now that she's seen how much I enjoy my daily commute on the Yamaha (about 120 miles round trip), she wants me to find another, smaller used bike for her to grow on. Then, in six months or so we look for a regular ride for her when she has a better idea what she wants. She doesn't want to deny me the SR 500. What a gal! ;D BTW, anyone know of suitable (probably around 200-350cc) bike in the central or northern New Mexico area?

correction:
wife says up to about 500cc, if it's no heavier than the SR 500 and has an electric start.
I still think around 350cc would be plenty at this point...

Well, this took an interesting turn... . We went to Dave, the local refurbish-and-resell bikes guy. He always helps me out with our SR 500, which he had refurbished a few owners ago. We told him we're looking for a bike for the wife now, to learn on and ride until she knows just what she wants. He points to a '78 Honda 750Four K and says, "buy that for him, and you take the Yamaha". Not quite what I had in mind, but that looks like what's going to happen. I will probably be riding my SR 500 only part of the week, and riding the Honda the other days so that she can have the Yamaha. But I will keep fixing up the Yamaha, and when she knows what she wants, I'll get to ride it more regularly. I guess there could be worse problems, eh?
