Hi,
I have just returned from Deus in Sydney. (The trip is getting dearer at $1.45 Aus a litre for fuel!!!)...
I bought a pair of Daytona mirrors at $25 Aus each...these are almost exactly the same as the original SR mirrors which are now almost impossible to get...and seem to be good quality. The numbers are 10181 for the left and 10174 for the right. The differences in looks are that they don't have the 2 rivets in the chrome back area and the mirrors makes things look a little further away...otherwise these'd finish off a restoration quite nicely if you are unable to get the originals.
I can e-mail pics if anyone would like to see them...

You can also still order the original SR mirrors from any Yamaha genuine parts dealer, online or retail store. I ordered a set and they took a while, because they came from Japan, but are original equipment (if you are going the stock oem route). Gary Hopwheels

Hi, Thanks for that info...unfortunately Yamaha Aust now only list the SR mirrors as 'not available'...I took the last 2 right side mirrors...
I'll check out the 650 site...but I've already got these now.
I'd be interested in getting a genuine left 'old style' mirror, hmm, how do you order parts from Yamaha USA?

Thanks to Gary I now have 2 complete sets of original mirrors...now unavailable here in Aus...thanks mate. One other issue worth mentioning is a problem that I have found with the Daytona mirrors that I started this post with. These mirrors, like the standard old-style SR mirrors...are hollow-stemmmed. However unlike the standard mirrors, the attaching threads are cut onto the surface of the open-ended chrome tubing. This creates a potential weak point on the stem. As you tighten up the locking nuts on these mirrors, don't exert 'too much' force on the stem as you hold them in position....they bend 'easily' at the top of the thread... The SR originals have the thread cut onto a solid fitting that is inserted into the ends of the hollow mirror stalks for strength. If you are going to use the Daytona ones, make a solid metal insert to fit tightly into the ends of the mirror stalks (...about 1" to 1.5" long should do)...this will strengthen the threaded stalks and lessen the chance of them bending. If they do bend they will break fairly easily... Of course, if you can still get the originals then use them and you'll be fine... SR
