i would like to run spoked rims on my chop...does a xs650 rim bolt up or is there lots of modifying that needs to be done?....i would like to run older dirtbike rims like from a yz for the front....i want to fit a 21 inch rim on the front with no brake....i will remove the disc if there is one...has anyone ran a dirtbike rim before?...does an xs650 have a 16 inch rear?...my sr has a drum rear so it should work?

Hi, The only XS650 that I recall that has a 16" rim is the 650 Special. This one though has a 'mag' type wheel. It would match the look of the standard SR mag though...
There are several Yam wheels that will fit the SR, but most need modification. The SR has a smaller 17mm axle than the XS's 20mm etc...all this can be overcome with a bit of effort. A 16" rim will need shorter spokes than an 18" rim, so you'd either to have the originals shortened and new threads rolled onto them or buy new ones to suit.
Not sure about the dirt bike wheel, it'd probably be a fairly easy fit, using the SR's front axle. You may have to change wheel bearings and bearing spacer etc. to suit, maybe not. Depends on the axle size.
Wth no brakes all you'd have to make is spacers to suit for wheel centreing. The trail bike type hubs may be the best as they should come already with a speedo drive, if you are running a speedo of course...

I think the 82-83 XS650's had a 16" spoke rear, but with double the previous number of spokes (the "Heritage Specials").
