OK, you guys are going to think I'm nuts, but I have a dilemma. I started to work on the TT yesterday, and went in the wrong direction. I thought, well, I should try to get it running before tearing it apart for parts. Why? I have no freakin' idea.
It was just sittin' there ready to tear down, I stupidly started trying to kick it over, and then the illness took over. Dropped in a new plug, cleaned the points (as best I knew how), no fire, sooooo, then... it got worse. I dropped in a new ignition coil I had lyin' around for one of my other projects... no fire.
The previous owner had rattled can painted the whole bike pretty much, including the carb, so I thought, maybe it gunked it up somehow. So spent the afternoon, breaking down the carb, cleaning the paint off, then took it to a wire wheel, polished it (again... why you ask?), reassembled it so now it's a sparkling jewel on a disinterested heap, and of course that wasn't the issue.
So, near sunset I put the whole works back together and wheeled it behind the garage.
This morning there it sat, about 6 hours worth of fumbling about on it, and it's no better off mechanically, just a little shinier.
Then to make matters worse, I start looking online for reproduction plastics for it, what other bits I might need to restore it... restore it?? Again, what the bleep am I thinking. I need one thing, the ding-dang, swingarm (and brake cover, since it fits into the swingarm as a steady).
So...
1) Restore it and sell it for funds for road projects (I'm not interested in off-road right now).
2) You're kiddin' yourself, you won't sell it once you've put time and energy into it.
3) Take the swingarm and break cover and break it down for parts for eBay.
4) See a doctor now.
5) And again, see a doctor.
I already thank God I have an understanding wife, so i don't need to include that one
Just a little fun for a Saturday morning. Give me some feedback guys, what should i do?
Thumper-itis-stricken...
