Very clean, and very cafe!
You probably said before, but where did you get the pipe and muffler from Gary?
I'd also like to get a fork brace for mine.............any leads there?
Chris

Hey Chris: The pipe is an oversized (1 3/4") White Brothers I picked up on eBay. I haven't seen that seller with auctions for them in a while. It was probably old stock they were getting rid of. The muffler is a Supertrapp short 3" internal disc model (they come in satin aluminum and chromed steel), with a tapered end cap. I got very lucky on the muffler as it was a blemish auction and went for super cheap. When it arrived, I polished out most of the very small blem (just a scratch, no dent), and was stoked. The fork brace comes from MikesXS.com. I really like the way it looks and am anxious to test it out. Thanks for the compliments, and good luck on your build. Take care. Gary Hopwheels

Gary, Well done mate...keep it up.
One small thing that you may want to consider is the size of the air filter.
It may be better to run a larger unit than the one you have there...a larger one gives a bigger surface area for the engine to breathe through. To give an analogy; too small a filter is the same as using a restrictive airbox...
Maybe try something like a straight K&N RU-1700, or an angled off equivalent....BO3584...
Just a thought...
What are you doing for foot pegs??

That's funny Stew, you practically read my mind. I just got a new K & N in the mail this week. That little one sure looks the part, but I was concerned as well. I found it a bit hard to navigate K&Ns site for a novice (no filter I found is exactly 60mm ID) so I assumed 62mm would work. I found and bought one their X-Stream velocity stack shaped (kind of a reverse cone) with a 20 degree angled flange. Its huge, but does fit the space really well. Any problem with a very large air filter? Thanks for those part numbers, 'cause if the filter I bought ultimately won't work, I'll need a place to start.
I'm still waiting on the pair of rearsets I purchased from SpecII here in southern California. I've been assured they went out last week and will arrive next week. We'll see. I am working on a backup plan.
Thanks! Gary Hopwheels

Gary, Hi. To a degree the bigger the better...however, it has to look aesthetically OK as well...too big and it looks out of place. I like the non-tapered ones myself...but it's all in the eye of the beholder... I'd have to take a look, but you can probably see the one on my black cafe racer in the pics area...I'll check...otherwise maybe it's shown better on the thumper page: www.thumperpage.com/articles/SRSR500.htmlThat one is offset at an angle, one of the others I metioned is straight back from the carby...depends on what you have back there in the end...battery, CDI etc. I also placed most of the 'black boxes' on an alloy plate that I fitted flush up underneath the seat...using the holes in the sidecover upper mounts for attachment..many ways to go there I guess... For my new cafe racer I'm using a dry cell battery...you can get some quite small ones these days. It will go inside the seat (...well that's my intention at the moment anyway)....the black one has a capacitor... SR
