Hey guys; Picked up a swingarm for a rear drum SR (from Great Britain!) and need to tear it down to send out for powder coating. What's the trick for getting the swingarm bearings out? Thanks for any help!!! Gary Hopwheels
I'll post updated pics soon.

Hopwheels, You just need a drift, a long bolt or something similar, and insert it from the opposite side of the bearing you want to remove. Then you place it on the inside edge of the bearing and tap it out as you work around the circle of the bearing. You will need new bearings as this will trash the old ones. I just changed mine last week and they came out with fairly easily. I was able to order new roller bearings on Ebay for pretty cheap ($20 or $25 as I recall). I'd love to see your bike when you get it on the road since I am in your neighborhood (Palm Springs). I'm considering trying some XS wheels on my bike and would love to talk to you about how yours worked out. Jim

Hey Jim Thanks! I'd love to show this thing off at some point. Its mostly in pieces right now. Palm Springs is certainly near 'nuff to Fallbrook considering the internationally flavored gang that posts here. I'll have to get a little better at riding the darn things (still on my permit) before venturing even that far.
I've got '77 XS650 forks and front wheel, w/dual drilled discs. I'm relacing (well, having it laced) the front wheel at the moment. The rear is a mongrel, '77 XT500 hub and '74 RD350 rim. Hopefully it all goes back together as fine as I'm seein' it in my head. we'll see. Thanks for the info! I'll be tappin' away this evening. Happy Thanksgiving to you and yours btw. Gary Hopwheels

I had an SR way back in the day that had XS (or possibly TT, I never needed to know because they were trouble free) hubs. The former owner had put them on as well as lacing on some wider, aluminum rims and heavy duty spokes. I think Bucahnon (spelling?) was the source. Who is doing yours? Happy Thanksgiving!
