hit up the rock store on mullhulland. handles great on the twisties. down the PCH and rode through venice and headed home after that. i was grinning from ear to ear the whole ride. mostly because my super trapp is louder than most harleys. also my life was in my own hands after setting up the new daul brake system my self. first set of brakes i set up.

Hi, Well done...now you should get down to riding it and sorting out any little problems...I guess you're talking abouty twin front discs?
They do make a big difference in the braking...have you stiffened up the front and rear springs at all?

the rear springs seem ok. the fronts need to be replaced with stiffer ones though. i'm trying to decide if i what to tackle that myself or not. getting the fork caps back in can be hard i've heard.

Congrats onthe ride. I love that route and you'll find that your SR gets more comments than most of the bigtwins there. Ther's a banked left turn that's a decreasing radius on Molholland between the rockstore and Kanan Dume that i drag my toe on all the time.

after you mentioned that ride when we met, i had to try it out. the bike is coming along nicely. i'm going to throw on a black tank i got on ebay. that dented red one will be up for grabs. you should swing by some time soon and check it out. i polished the forks and sprayed the lower triple, i need to sand and spray the top triple. i got a new tire for the front and i'm going to have the head pipe sand blasted also. yours is running now right? we should head out for a run.

Hi, The caps need to be removed using a special allen tool...Yam sell them cheap as I recall...restrain the cap as you remove it...keep the bike on the centre stand as well.
From memory (...a little hazy at best) you could make a spacer about an inch longer than stock and try that out.
You do have to put a bit of pressure down on the cap as you put it back in, use a rag on the palm of your hand over then end of the tool and a ring spanner or a ratchet and socket....but as long as the bike is on the centre stand all will work OK.
The thread is fairly fine so be careful at the start...grease the thread and the O rings...by the way, it's probably an obvious statement but don't remove both caps at once as the front will collapse on you...a little messy...springs and oil everywhere.
I have clip-ons on all of mine so that makes it easier...if you have 'normal' bars you may have to remove them to one side as well...

i finally installed the fork brace this weekend. as well as repainted the triple tree, bars clamps and threw on the new bars and mirrors. it sure does look pretty. i sanded down the header and sprayed it with 1200 degree paint. that should hold it for a while. tonight I'll be attaching the newer supertrapp on(12 disc's) hopefully it will still perform and be as loud as the one i took off(only because it had holes in it). Hey tradrockrat, I'll be going for a ride this weekend what day are you available?
