I coulda used this site back when i was trying to turn a left side chain tensioner into a rightside with a cold chisel and a three pound mallet.
My SR is my first bike, I've had it for about 2years now.
My uncle gave me the non-running SR after acquiring a used Harley Police bike. He said it had blown black smoke out the exhaust at one point so he parked in the garage and it didnt move for a year and a half. I dumped the bowl on the carb, splashed the tank out with clean gas a couple times, then kicked and prayed. Started on the first try and promptly backfired and caught the stock airfilter on fire. Hooray for K&N!
After I got it running pretty well (turns out it was sucking oil through the PCV into the airbox) I got my license and rode it all over the place, weather permitting.(Sometimes not)
At one point I found some dirt in a corner in the college parkinglot and learned first hand that the human body bounces when it hits asphault. I was fine, laughing in fact. But I had done a real job on the SR's headlight bucket and Tach. The fact that I was able to kick it over and ride it home blew me away! I eventually fixed everything (Ebay is a gift from the Almighty).
In a city full o' crotch rockets and Harleys, the 500 has a habit of turning heads in confusion and bewilderment everywhere. "Your motorcyle sounds funny, dude."
Sure the 4s are faster, but can they get wicked air over speedbumps at the college?
I have since put on a set of Clubman bars and an Emgo Cafe Fairing. But little things have broken or worn out and I need to attack them before I can continue the Modding.
Thanks for providing a place for something as excellent as the bi-wheeled, demented chainsaw I have come to love.
