Just went over to 'the dark side' from my usual 650 twins... I've got a '78 SR500 that I'm sure I'll love, as soon as the @#$! thing starts!

One of the advantages of SR ownership . Your other multi riding mates wont try to borrow your bike unless you start it for them. Good for a laugh sometimes .

Yes I watched my brother trying t o kick over my latest aquisition a couple of days ago in thongs .I declined as that was my only footwear too ,all I wanted to do was roll it onto the trailer & drink a few of his beers for the drive home(it was hot that day too) .I could smell fuel & it was dribbling out of the overflow so I'll save it for another day! Mate you've got to learn the knack & there is plenty of advice in this forum on it so have a browse cheers Dave.

Well, thanks, all. So far, I took it to the top of a hill in the truck, rolled halfway with the compression release out, thn dumped it into gear. Started and gave me some excellent dance moves. So, the carburetion works - going after the electrics.
