Hi. I live in Lake County, CA. USA. I'm half Canuck [my dad's from Montreal] which I'm told makes me 3/4 crazy! I've been off the bike and on bicycles [recumbents now] for 20 years. My last motorcycle was a '79 SR. Great bike. I just got my motorcycle license back and am headed out this weekend to look at....a '79 SR500! Purely coincidence. I wasn't looking for one, but there aren't a lot of bikes for sale in my area and this one showed up around the corner. I haven't seen it [even in photos] yet. It's in a garage waiting for the seller to come home. He says it's straight, no dents, no tears, "starts first kick." "Has a ratty Supertrapp and the tank could use paint, but, looks OK 10' away", whatever that means. I'll let you know how my barn find works out. This is a great site and is not helping my patience. I want to see this bike NOW.

Well that didn't last long. I talked myself out of it. I'm not much of a mechanic and decided I probably should start back on the road with something a little newer. Then there's that arthritic knee....

Mate you shouldn't do that ,give it a go! The worries of starting it diminish once your on the open road & listening to that single roar. Not to mention that vibrating sensation on your groin as it goes through your whole body(oh thats just me ! Well you've got to get off in different ways don't you)Don't worry about those shinny electric start new models get back to your roots man ! You won't be sorry ? cheers Dave.
