Hi,
I'm from Melbourne, Australia and have been riding "sports bikes" since 1995. Most of these years have seen one of two Ducati's in the shed.
Recently a mate of mine bought an SR500 and it got my attention. Maybe (just maybe) it isn't all about going fast? I would have loved to grab an SR, however the price tags are a little high for me to justify for a second bike.
Last week I bought an XS400 from eBay. The plan is to do it up a bit - hopefully learning a few things about mechanics along the way. As the XS400 doesn't have the market penetration of the SR I thought that I'd jump in here to hopefully learn a thing or two and get some advice on what I believe is a similar bike.
I have to admit - I'm pretty excited about this project! Who knows, maybe I'll fall in love with these old Yammi's enough to lose the sports bike altogether in place of an SR? Hmmmm..... that's a big stretch... we'll see :-)

Welcome Damien.
We got the XS delivered to my place tonight and went for a ride. Guess who ate dust at the lights! Guess who conked out on the freeway! Great bike though! I'm at least envious of the easy kick-start.

I've had a Suzuki 1000 and a Kawasaki 1000 that would blitz my SR500...but when it comes to the 'fun-factor'...the SR500 Yamaha wins, hands down...and in the twisties it'll stick to a superbikes ass like a stamp.
