Hi. After living in Japan for 12 years I have returned home to Melbourne Aus. My 95 SR 400 made the trip too. I'm wondering if there are any dramas getting RWC and rego for imports. I have all the import papers and I need to get compliance plates for it. It has front and rear drum brakes,is that going to be a problem? Would be great if anyone could pass on some info. thanks. PJ

Shouldn't be a problem If its a stocker . In West Oz you just book it in & trailer it to the place & they check it over & say yes or no & give you the list or the paperwork to pay up . I don't think compliance plates are a problem if you have the relevent ownership/customs paperwork as long as it passes the roadworthy . But the laws in Vic could be way different . I imported a GPz550 from South Africa a few years back . The only concern was the crate that it was packed in had to be disposed of buy them back at customs cheers Dave.

Welcome to the forum, and welcome to Melbourne. Where are you located? - two of us are in Carlton.
Re the RWC, I can recommend Ray Quincey in the city - they'll do a proper check, but they won't be over-strict like some other places. I took mine to a car shop in Carlton - let me know if you want the details - he was pretty good as well (though he only gave me seven days to get the work done - I thought it was normally 30 days). It's typically upwards of a fortnight wait for an appointment at Vic Roads - check with the outer-suburban office(s) if you want it sooner.

Hi, Welcome back...good to see you've brought a bike with you as well. Plenty of SRs here...if you need any info just ask. SR

Thanks for your help. First I need to get compliance plates for the bike, and there are only a select few bike shops that do it. And they seem to take advantage of the situation. after I get the plates then I can get a roadworthy. I hope to get it all done before Christmas. Thanks again. Peter
