Hey all.
I'm a die-hard KLR650 rider at heart. However, I recently found a '78 SR500 for sale in Haines, Alaska...more on that one in another thread.
I am a Chief in the U.S. Coast Guard - going on over 12 years now, only 7.5 till retirement! ;D
Glad to be here...we'll see if the moto deal pans out...

Welcome mate, I've been loking at the KLR recently, really popular in Nth America...new ones nearly cheaper than a used XT600 over here.
go for the SR, you wont regret it.
Link to a ride report in here somewhere from a fella who rode his SR to the artic circle.

US Coast Guard? When I was doing the course and exam for the South Australian Coxswains ticket, they showed us some film of the training for small boat handling. The waves your guys were fronting up to with their 30-40 footers fair dinkum made my blood run cold. Told the instuctor that for waves like that, I would turn around and go home, assuming I could get the boat around. Mick
