Hi everybody. Excellent forum here. I currently own three SR500s, two 1978s and one 1981. I bought the 1981 about 3 years ago, it's my main bike, never let me down. Just a couple months ago I had the opportunity to buy a cherry black 1978 SR500, and a slightly modded red 1978 SR500 parts bike to go with it. I don't have a pic of the red one right now, but here is the 1981 The 1978 - all original

It seems these SR's are addictive...

Nice bikes! I expecially like the black one, its way sharp.
As for SR's being addicitive I found all the thumpers are. Best cure for the addiction is buy 2 more and call me in the morning.

Digiroc, that's awesome, I think I saw some pics of your two bikes in another thread. I see by your email address that you're also a Mac user

I bought the red SR just to get a working stator to get my black SR running again. I'd love to get the red one in riding condition just to be able to save the black one for special occasions.
And yes, I'm an Apple user. I still have my first Mac (a Mac "Plus" w/ rodine internal hard drive) and it still boots up! I worked for Apple, training sales reps at Sears, Circuit City, and CompUSA. This was before the rise of the Apple Stores and it was a great experience.
I currently have a Cube (Giant iPod, music server for my office space), Dual processor Powermac (5 hard drives in it, file server), AU Powerbook (most used, typing on it now). But to prove I am not bigoted about computing I also have a Panasonic Toughbook running Windows XP Pro.
I use the Toughbook in my van with Microsoft's GPS and Streets and Trips. Very useful in the 1200+ miles I had to log on my van for each of my SR500s.

Luckily I have a yellow one for every day riding, so I can keep the black one for special occasions. The red one is just for tearing around my yard and scaring the neighbors due to no muffler whatsoever My family got into Macs when I was about 7, we've been loyal to them ever since. Except for a tower PC I bought a couple years ago to have around "just in case". I have a MacBook Pro now with Windows XP in case I need it, so it made the tower PC obsolete to me. I can sure see how you wouldn't want to use an Apple laptop in a van for GPS, they're too beautiful to risk in an environment like that I got off easy... probably only logged 400 miles total to get my SR00s
