I thought I better say hi to everyone and to say thanks for all the help everone has given me through the forums, cheers!!! And now I have a pic of my bike up I feel like I can finally introduce myself. My name is DOUG and I use the name gopher as my login because it is the name of my cat (it was the only name I could think of when registering). I'm new to the whole scene, SRs and bikes, I know nothing about mechanical things, but thanks to everyone here I'm learning. I got my 78' SR in February and after an extended stay at the mechanincs, a heavy hit to the pocket, I'm finally riding my SR on a regular basis... and loving it! Of course the old SR is chewing oil and it seems anything that is rubber is perishing but I still love fixing her up. So checkout the gallery at www.sr500act.org My grey SR is about halfway down (Doug's SR500E cafe racer) , and that pipe is the one I got from OVER Racing Japan. I'm currently fitting a Cateye taillight and some bullet indicators which I will update my pic on the website when it's done. thanks again to everyone that answered my posts, all advice has been put to good use. cheers DOUG

G'day Doug!
I'm in a similar boat to you - I know nothing about mechanical stuff, am generally useless with tools but I'm slowly but surely learning about everything on this bloody great bike.
Nice bike you got there too... what's that muffler like? I'm very close to getting it - nicely positioned, looks good, simple and won't fall off... but is it loud? (Not StewRoss loud!)
Will you be at the workshop day in July? I'm driving down from Sydney and might bring a mate (who's on the hunt for a SR) to have a poke around, take some pics and learn a lot.

Hi Doug! Glad you are here as well. Your bike looks great. Keep up the great work. G Man p.s.: If you are o.k. with your screen name as it is, that's great. However, you can always go to "profile" and have your screen name show whatever you like... Just a tip...

Hi Marlon,
Fingers crossed I will be attending the workshop so you can check out my exhaust then. I think it's great but again I'm a bit of a novice at the whole bike thing.
Thanks G Man, I'll probably change my profile...

Great Doug, I'll look forward to see you there. I'm a complete nubian too, but I'm trying to find a simple, bolt on exhaust that rumbles a bit. As a safety precaution, of course!
