Hi Folks, Bikes have been a part of me ever since I can remember. Starting with my first 24 inch Schwinn in the 40's and then a Roadmaster which I rode through the woods and fields of Bucks County PA. The world shrunk around me when I got my 125 cc Allstate in the 50's. Up until that time 20 miles was far away, big deal, all day trip. All of a sudden we found ourselves in Philadelphia or New Hpope or riding through the pines on the way to the Jersey Shore.
I have had Jawa, a 500 single AJS and several other GREAT bikes over the years. My friends had wizzers, BSAs, Harleys, Ducatis, an even an Indian. I worked on them all. I was not by any means the best mechanic around but I was free which was ok with my friends.
Well fast forward to today; I have a SR500, a CX500, a CX500 turbo, a 500 triumph Daytona and a 1956 500 Goldstar. I guess I just never outgrew 500cc. I also had a 500 H1 and hated it from the day I bought it. I also plan to dump the turbo. It is a great bike but it is just too complicated.
Years ago my niece gave me a copy of Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance and it simply amazed me. What a shocker! I had always felt a peace with bikes but now had some insight to the bugs in my teeth, the frozen fingers and my my dirty greasy knuckles.
Well I better get busy and find out why my SR500 has no spark!
Ray

Geez Ray , thats the portfolio of portfolios ! All 500 singles you muat have a leg like a tree trunk ? ( I purposely didn't mention the CXs they were crap & I'd rather forget they were ever made) . Good luck getting the SR running , If you have no luck start a thread about it & I'm sure the lads will help with good advice . Cheers from Dave on the other side of the planet.
