Hi everybody,
The guy across the street from where I was working was clearing out his garage. I noticed he had a couple of bikes and that didn't seem like they got much use so I went over to chat. Well, it turns out that both of the bikes were sr500s and that he was going to sell the one he bought from his buddy who couldn't ride any more.
I was looking for a lightweight bike and used to own an xt500 years ago that I had blast on so here I am the happy owner of 1981 sr500 that has an oil cooler, fork brace and progreesive springs! It can use some cleaning up but is definitely rideable and I have been enjoying the lightweight.
I am happy to hear that the sr500 is still in production in Japan but wondering how to get access to the goodies for this bike as I don't read or speak Japanese. You'd think we could get stuff for the bike through the Yamaha dealer, ah well.
Anyway, look forward to getting to know you folks. Any SR owners in California?
talk tou later,
marc z

[glow=red,2,300]WELCOME TO THE SR500 FORUM![/glow]
Glad you found us! Goes to show there are still some garage bound SR's out there to be had. We just need to seek them out. Sometimes they seek us out! Seems to be more and more bolt on stuff all the time for the SR. We are all trying to keep it alive.
Take care and talk to you soon, G Man
