I was a member on the xs650 board, but I gave those projects away to make room for my 1978 and 1981 sr500's. I'll post info on my custom seat and other aftermarket goodies from Japan.

Too bad the pic does not show my pipe, which has been cut in half.

I've been going through the pages and there is some great info here! I hope I can bring some info to the table.
I'm working on getting more access to parts here in the US to get the enthusiasm up for this underrated single. I think it's funny how half the bikes in Custom Burning (japanese custom mag- sick xs650 on the cover this month), are sr400's, yet the model is hardly known in the US. My bike gets more regognition on the streets, mostly cuz it's LAF, but at teh same time it looks are not really demanding attention.
Remeber the w650 from Kawasaki and it's short stay in the US? It's popularity in JP has encouraged Kawasaki to introduce a 400cc version for insurance and license junk. And at the same time the market here sucks. It's just anemic little cruisers, cruisers, sportbikes, and dual-sports. I think that if Yamah brought the sr400 here they would be serving a whole new market- if supported properly.
