Hi everybody I hope I'm welcome to this forum ? cos i don't have a 500 just a 400 that I've just rescued for a farmers barn , it hasn't run in years . Hopefully with your help it will live again . I have a ton of questions to ask as this is my first thumper but hopefully not my last ,but to be honest the thought of a large single kicking back scares the hell out of me I'll post some questions soon thanks lurch

Welcome aboard! I'm not familiar with the 400 and 500 differences (other than the obvious displacement), but if they're appreciably the same, you'll find a ton of great tech info here. Gary Hopwheels

Of course you are welcome Lurch! Happy to have you on board! 400, 500, no bike at all... doesn't matter. ;D I hope we can offer something for you. What model of 400 exactly?
Looking forward to talking to you soon, G Man

Thanks for the welcome Guy's ;D I'm into Yamaha's in a big way having a FJR1300, 2, XJ650's and a XS750se which is the love of my life lately . I have a vast amount of experience with yamaha multies, but as I've said earlier this is the first thumper that i've owned (dont think a old Honda 125 counts ?) the first problem i've got is with the ignition system so i'll post a question in the electrical section ,so please take a look .
