Hi. My name is Peter. I'm 23 and spend my days working as a newspaper editor. The whole motorcycle thing is new to me.
In college, I participated in the Society of Automotive Engineers FSAE competition where we took a Honda CBR F4i motor and built a miniature formula car around it. I got into cars through that. My dad never has been much of a wrencher.
Quite a few guys had crotch rockets in that group, but one of the fellas had an old Triumph. Don't think it was a Bonneville, but it was something similar. It always caught my eye.
That bike got me looking at old singles. I love the simplicity and classic look. I checked into Royal Enfields. I've drooled over BSAs and Nortons. Mainly, I was looking at British stuff because it went hand in hand with being a brit car fan. Then I found out about cafe racers and it's been downhill from there.
Also, I'm a Gran Tourismo fan and so when Tourist Trophy came out on the PlayStation2, I was all over it. That's how I found out about the SR 400 and SR 500. Please don't write me off as a videogame fanboy without a clue. I'm trying to learn as much as I can. So, I did some searching online and found all the amazing parts suppliers in Japan and Europe.
It was that searching that brought me here. I don't own a bike yet. I don't know how to ride yet. All I know is I love the look of the SR and I think it may be the right bike for me. All I want is something to commute to work on when the weather is nice and maybe drive around town on sometimes. Something I can tinker with and modify and make my own.
