Hello all, my first post here, so please bear with me.
I've had an sr500 for 18 months and been thinking about selling it, but now leaning towards keeping and repairing.
In the course of listing the bike however, I have noticed that my engine number only has 2J2 on it and nothing else. I don't know if I'm looking in the wrong place (non drive side casing). Any ideas what is going on?
Thanks in advance.

Hi, welcome to the forum!
The lack of full engine number doesn't have to be a problem. Can't say I've heard of 2J2 machines having an incomplete engine marking, but the vehicle identification (the all important frame number,) should be on the headstock tube or on a VIN plate somewhere near the headstock.
Imported Japanese market machines can have 3 character engine numbers, for example 2H6 on a 1993. Wouldn't have thought this was an issue, so long as the frame number is present and correct on your ownership documents.
