Hi all, I currently have a 22 KLR 650 as my tour bike around Australia. However I also have my 84 SR400 on heritage club plates. Going between them throws my riding style as they are different bikes. Had a thought has anyone toured on a Fuel injection SR400? I was thinking would sell my KLR and get a second hand with low kms SR400. Put on some serious modifications and upgrades for touring. Then wouldn't be any issues jumping between bikes. Also know the SR is nearly as bulletproof as the KLR. Plus can get over 300km range out of the tank with the fuel injection, low maintenance and enough power to cruise on the highway or back roads. Just an idea. What do you think?

Your very first job will be getting rid of the stock sprockets (19/56) and fitting 20/55. (That's the reason for negative online reviews of a stock SR400, with bad vibes being the gripe.)

The word 'comfort' springs to mind pete. Big mileage in a day ? the KLR wins hands down I would say. I've been on reasonable length runs on my SR500 and my rule of thumb is 'an hour in the saddle'. Another consideration when considering long runs...these SR's are air cooled hence the regular stops. No doubt theres others on here who've been to Mars and back in a weekend but you get my point I'm sure.

One of the first things I do is double check the sprockets. Prefer lower revs. As to comfort, the KLR is hands down the most comfy bike I have sat on. For range around 90mins or 135km is the usual distance before stopping.
