Hello I have a 78 sr500 which starts and runs well . I am starting to plan a few longer trips so am interested in the modifications to the oil supply to the head . Am I correct in assuming that you replace the current connection to the rear of the head and re route this to the exhaust side using the kit I have seen for sale in yam bits etc My original understanding was that this was an additional oil line but don’t think this is the case . Could this be confirmed please Thankyou Rob

Hello mate,
Welcome to forum. I am also running a 78 SR. Not sure about the parts you described, I fitted a Kedo conversion which feeds oil to both intake and exhaust sides of head. Would not make sense to stop feed to intake and replace with a feed to exhaust only.

The hard oil line to the rear of the head was only fitted to the early bikes. The oil line to the exhaust rocker spindle was the factory upgrade (not sure at what date,) and most, if not all aftermarket oil lines I have seen, feed both inlet and exhaust. Edit: To your question: It's not an additional line, but a replacement. I can't find the kit you mention on the Yambits site, (can you post a product pic?) but I'm sure it will be better than current rear placement. You'll need an 8mm bolt and copper washer to blank off the old position at the rear of the head, unless the kit provides one. Tell us how it goes. Hello Thanks for help on this. Apologies the part I saw was on Rex Speed shop not yambits my mistake. It is called a cylinder head saver . I think this is the part I need . So from what you have said this will replace the hard line to the rear of the head . Then plug this with new bolt .
Many thanks

Many thanks Hey Robe, That is exactly what you need, ordered mine via Rexs, good people to deal with. It is the Kedo kit, comes with all fasteners you will require and fitting instructions if you are unsure of the procedure. Good quality kit and reasonable price. Also looks a bit trick so you can't go wrong.
