I know this has probably been addressed but I can't find with search. I blew up the motor on my SR500. I would like to install a 500 engine in it but good ones are hard to find. My question is will an SR400 go in easily with minimum mods? They seem to be more plentiful.

Short answer is yes, in purely mechanical terms but you need to consider how different the electrical systems of the original and transplanted engines are. Whereabouts are you located? Is the 400 motor from a European model or Japanese Domestic Market for instance. How different is that from your 500 with its electrics? These are the considerations when hooking up the output from the 400 motor to your 500's wiring loom.
