Can anyone help me decode or explain this NINE character Vin on my 1980 SR 500? The number is on a white sticker that says “vehicle identification number”. The same number is stamped right there nearby on the neck of the frame right under the handlebars. Someone please tell me what to do with this nine digit vin because I’m not absolutely positive if the bike is an 80 or an 81. As I recall, some years had a solid state magneto and others mostly didn’t? I’m sure that as I understand it my bike has the solid-state magneto. That was the only part that ever gave me a problem on that motorcycle ever. I’m going to start putting this bike in order because I want to ride it eventually no matter what so any input on this nine character vin would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!
