Any experts on the engine out there, just converted my sr to points with tt cover and now in my parts container there’s a left over 8mm ball bearing, not sure if it came from the tt parts or the sr or somewhere else. Can’t figure out where it could go.

evang, may be wrong but is it come from the oil check valve thats housed in the cover. Its a black rubber seal/grommet that is spring loaded with a ball bearing making the oiltight seal. Its the only thing I can come up with Andy

Which side cover did you have off for this job? I'm assuming just the left side generator cover.
The oil check valve ball that Andy mentions is indeed 8mm, so a good candidate! If it's from your machine, you'll find the oil level appears low (non existent?) on the dipstick as it will have all disappeared down into the sump. SR is 'dry sump.'
It will also feel odd, heavy, when you kick it over.
