My recent hard down & slide on the left side showed a weak point in my slider protection plan! I had made a pair of delrin spools and mounted them on the former rear turn signal frame lugs, filling the spots nicely and with a sense of purpose to protect the rear of my t&r cafe saddle. Note that said saddle escaped harm. The bike slid down-road on basically the left clubman bar-end (tank suffered nothing), left footpeg (N-R Perf rearsets) until it broke off then it was on the shift stuff (now mangled a bit) and the rear lower shock stud acorn nut. That nut ground down through the acorn top and into the stud proper. Somewhere in all that the outer ring of the Gazi HyperX shock and spring made road contact and took some damage. Im thinkin that a 'slider' a good bit longer than an acorn nut would have been a good thing down there. Thats only for the left side, the right side is going to ride on the expensive muffler So, maybe save your pricey left shock from damage with a simple and cheap sliding point at the lower shock mount and be happier than I am.
