Thank you! I found my bike. 1980 SR 500 G. I purchased it in 1981 at a dealer and haven’t rode this bike in ages. All of the paperwork that went with it is gone bye-bye. It was still in the show room as an 1980 when I bought it in 81. Salesman said the guy‘s wife made him turn around and take it right back. It only had like 100 miles and he gave me a really good deal. I still couldn’t remember if it was an 80 or 81 and I had forgotten about the G, so this helped me identify my exact SR 500. So thanks again, Steve!

This is brillant. However, have a question, need a carby ID for the years. Mine is a 1984 SR400 however I am pretty sure it has a 500 head on it. The carby is a monster big Mikuni with a huge air pod on it. I have ridden SR400 and a XT500 before. This engine pulls like a 500. Yet the paperwork and engine number say it is a 400. That all aside I am having massive issues with the wiring, getting parts for the bike which I am writing in other sections.
