O.K lads,I've had a very minor leak on the bottom corner of my tank towards the seat. I've bought a tank liner ethanol resistant POR15 that will hopefully fix the leak and allow me to use E10 petrol or E5. To the point of this post, when I pour the liner resin in after the primer operation, can I keep the fuel tap on the tank providing I'm careful not to slosh the resin around too much and risk blocking the brass fuel tubes on the tap.Has anyone out there used a fuel liner ? all advice appreciated. My opinion is keep the tap on Thanks, Andy

Andy, I have not had to use it but have read up on it a fair bit through the years with that same question in mind. Having experienced the 'Murphy Effect' I just cannot get comfortable with the idea of not removing the petcock. That will be a great time to refurb it or replace with a non-vac unit.

Hi Andy, well worth the trouble of removing the tap for its safety. Silicon grease the bolts (or some spares,) and pop them back in to protect your threads from getting blocked with resin. Don't wind them in too far, just enough to cover the threads.
Another good reason for removing the tap is to ensure 100% you've got a dry tank.
I believe Drum used a resin liner, if he manages to find his way on here.

Okay, tank all lined and fingers crossed it holds up. Quite a lengthy procedure if anyone out there is considering it. 1. flushout with supplied solution then rinse and repeat ,thoroughley dry out before next operation. 2.pour in primer agent then empty and make sure its completely dry before..3.pour in resin liner rotating tank to cover completely the inside of tank before pouring out and leave for a minimum of 96 hours before re-filling with petrol. Its all explained with the kit BUT follow the instructions to the letter. Over and out .

Best wishes for success! I remember that every time Ive had to mess about with just pulling and reinstalling petcocks Ive been verryyy nervous. Fwiw, Ive taken to giving at least 50% more than whatever is said to be the 'curing time' of any goo I work with; things have worked better since doing so.

Okay guys, finally took the steps to strip the old liner, hands up I made a crap job of it anyway 😳, it’s a spare tank so no big deal. I’m not going to re- line it but braze the pinholes up which are bottom left lower corner as you sit in the bike. Lessons learnt? don’t rush any project, as the old saying goes.. patience is a virtue 🤔.
