About a month ago I was trading bike parts online when I met a guy with a 78 SR500. It was bare bones but he wanted near nothing for it. I grabbed it up and have been quick to build it. Currently I have a DT100 tank mounted in it with a Saddleman's tracker style tail section. Front forks are shaved so no brakes and no fender mounts. Frame has been cut down to the essentials with all unused tabs and plates being shaved off. Hidden electronics tray has been welded under the seat. Have 12.5" springs for it but I'm using the wood so I don't damage the shocks with all the cutting and welding. I'm in the process of reducing the wiring to only the essentials as well, which is where I'm at right now. Here is a pic for the curious. photos.app.goo.gl/dozuBYw2tTDz1Ytq7*Btw, I have decided against eliminating the front brake so if anyone wants to trade forks, I'm down. These are powder coated black and have new seals.

Very clean. Front brake a good idea. They came from the factory with a marginal front brake as it is.

Project complete. Sort of. After test riding, I don't know why I thought no front brake was a good idea. Aesthetic wise it looks amazing but the thing stops like a fat kid at a all you can eat buffet... So I'll be adding a front brake. Currently trying to tune the Mikuni VM34. It doesn't like to start unless I use choke and it doesn't like to return to idle. Any carb guru's in here, please tell me what I'm doing wrong. It is a VM34, not the stock carb.
