I have a lead on one, rusty but free. In the early '70's 3 of my buddies had them. I was on an H1 Kawasaki. Anyone here with experience with them? I've seen several beautiful customs at the One Show in Portland.

Helo, is there anybody out there? Getting old sucks. Most of my friends are dead. "Cheer up, the worst is yet to come."- Olga Petersen, my grandma.

My brother had a black bomber in the late 60s . That one had a couple of oiling glitches while he had it, one time the facing of the cam followers deposited on the exhaust cam face. After this adventure we timed how long it took for oil to reach the exhaust valve after s cold start-up. I remember 45 seconds as the time. My brother gave it a minute of warm up idling before raising the engine speed after that.
He was able to clean the deposited metal off the cam lobe face and get new cam followers which fixed the problem as long as he had the bike.
The second glitch was on a bike trip, 4th of July 1970 in eastern South Dakota, temp way over 100 degrees and my Triumph got a flat tire in a small town. My brother hauled me and my tire all over town in the heat and traffic trying to find someplace with air and a patch kit. Somewhere in all the enjoyment the Honda got stuck in second gear and wouldn't shift. We had to split the cases and pull the tranny in the KOA space, jumping in the sprinkler once in a while to cool down. Second gear was actually stuck on the primary shaft, again some deposited metal. A ball peen hammer freed it, and several hours work with a small stone and a file gave it some clearance, another fix that lasted !
I had a CB 450 briefly too. (mine never had any mechanical issues, but it was another 4 speed bomber). They are pretty impressive if you hit the throttle hard from a standstill, fishtailing and then the front tire comes up when the rear tire gets a good bite on the pavement.
If you have a chance at one, they are interesting and well made bikes.

Never had one, though kinda wanted one, always had other bikes filling the garage. Saw a pretty nice one last year that had the old Black Bomber tank on, dont know it it was easy or not to do that but it Looked Good. I remember at one time looking up the qtr mile times/speeds and the 450 twin was not that far behind the 500-4 and 750-4 (had 2 of those).
