Yamaha XS 650 front wheel on a XT 500

Has any one installed a XS650 front wheel onto a XT 500. I bought a set of XT forks with the disk brake tabs welded on them along with a XS wheel. The bearings and spacers to fit the XT axle won't be a problem. My main concern is the speedometer drive ratios using the stock XT Speedometer.
