Hello guys.
Just bought a 78 TT500. 11,000km
It's in rough shape. Very rough shape. Paid 200 bucks for it.
Been sitting in a shed for 20 years or more. Rusty, no head light rip in seat. Kicked over well. But not a lot of compression. To check what was up with it, I pulled off the rocker covers, intake was beautiful. Exhaust adjuster was missing. So, out the motor came this morning.
Terming into it later tonight.
Took the motor out in about 2 hours. Rust everywhere, incest houses everywhere. Was a mouse home in the airbox.
I have a lot of experience with this type of bike. I had a 78 SR500 that I spent so much time working on. Mega Cycle cam, Wiseco 2nd oversize piston. Hard valve springs. 36mm Flat slide Mikuni. Kerker Exhaus, with vortex in the header, Supertrap can. Duel oil feed, Twin rotors on the front wheel. Mesh air filter. Racing petcock. Capacitor instead of battery. Much more than this, but this is the major stuff I did with it.
Will be needing a headlight for the TT. Rear shocks, chain, blinkers. and a whole lot more. Any hints where to source good TT parts?
I understand this motor is still being used in the SR400. Is that correct?
