The two low shift forks on my 1981 Xt500 looked to be the same to me...the two that sit on the same shaft....
However, looking up some part numbers, I saw that they actually have different numbers,
FORK, SHIFT
2
364-18511-00-00
FORK, SHIFT 1
363-18511-00-00
Does anyone know for sure what the difference is? If they were mixed up in position, or if there were 2 of the same on that shaft would that matter? It seems obvious that it would matter, I know, but again looking for someone who has actually had these forks in their hand to comment.
(I am struggling with an XT500 that just wont shift into 2nd--Ive had the cases apart and replaced some of the forks with used units---but again to avoid the obvious comment, the symptoms have not changed--that is to say it did not shift into 2nd BEFORE I split the cases either)
