I am running a 79XT with the airbox removed.I am useing a small KN filter to vent the crankcase. Does the length of the hose that the filter mounts on have to be any specific length? i have seen very long hoses on vintage road race bikes. Not sure why they run them like that. Mitch

Hi Mitch.
The length does not matter in that application.
The only reason for lengthening it is to possibly get it further away for the inevitable oil vapour that will seep out, or to get it in a bit better area to reduce water soaking the filter.
