Hi Everyone, i am new to the forum, but have had 15 years with my XT. When i first got the bike i had to clean the fuel system out really well and replace all the seals and diaphragms in the carb and then everything worked fairly well for many years. A couple of years ago i rode the bike and then parked it for the winter. The following summer the bike would not start and the fuel already smelled bad. I finally decided a few days ago to drain the fuel and take the carb apart and clean it out and hopefully it would solve my problems. I could tell by how the throttle felt and sounded that my accelerator pump wasn't pumping so i went strait to this circuit and sure enough it isn't working. I looked at the diaphragms and they don't have any visible cracks, but they are stiff. I cleaned all the passages out and put it back together and the pump still doesn't work. Im sure there is a crack in the diaphragm that i cant see. The carb was not gummed up inside at all, so all the passages were clear and the jets are clear. I believe i just need to replace these diaphragms. So where can i buy these parts without spending $40 per diaphragm? Ebay seems to be a rip off for these parts. My internet searches didnt turn up much unfortunatly, so that led me here. Please help!! I want to get this bike back out on the mountain trails this winter. Thanks!

Same here, I'm at $140 just for diaphragms and gaskets, not including a basic rebuild kit. Holding off for right now. Local groups recommend a new Mikuni TM36-68, $262.xx on E-bay or Amazon. Same source. Not sure if a VM36-4 will work or not. I'm still checking into it.
