Engine rebuild underway. Carrillo rod supplied leaves no room for big end thrust washers. It is 22 mm across the big end, Stock Yammy item is 20, the thrust washers are 1mm each. I am told it is the right rod for the engine. Advice I've received is that it is OK to leave the thrust washers out, that this is done on XT500 and SR500 engines, apparently without drama. Seems strange to me. Comments and advice please.

I thought the same thing when I was rebuilding my crank with a Carrillo rod. The only thing I did that I wouldn't normally do was to stone the thrust surfaces on the crank halves. Made sure they where flat and smooth. I have not had any issues thus far.
