Hi All. A general question about fitting an air filter to the engine (when fitting a pod filter to the carb). Many recommend a length of heat resistant hose with the filter on the end removed from the engine, to avoid oil misting on the engine which happens when the filter is fitted straight on to it. I think I've found a way around this problem, allowing a direct fit to the engine, in a filter with a shield (pic below), but need to ask regarding the rubber tube adaptor pictured which it comes with: it would be easy to attach that to the engine, but is it likely to melt? If likely to melt, what is a cheap source of hose - radiator, or other? Thanks, Matt [Edit, after posting this, it occured to me that there might me a problem with this filling with water. I've emailed the guy about the presence, or possibility of drilling, a drain hole]

The rubber should be OK...but I see your point about the water...personally I prefer it to be higher up out of the way... SR
