It's getting too cold to ride here, so I put my bikes away last night. I rolled my 2 SR's into the basement after work. The '78 will get the motor pulled to replace the main shaft with one that doesn't have the countershaft sprocket welded to it. It also needs a new base gasket, so i'll just be rebuilding the whole thing. The '80 will be getting stripped down and redone. Grind off all the useless tabs, powdercoat a bunch of stuff, and it too will probably be getting a rebuild. I need to start collecting parts.

Jeffz, A good time to get your rides refurbished. My garage is unheated so I do other stuff when it is snowy. If it is cold I limit my rides somewhat. Guess they are all shorter than they were 30 years ago. Paul Living in the midwest is really great. Last week I went for a ride and rode ridge roads for an hour only seeing one car. You know the drill left, right, left. Hardly ever using the brakes. Around here you need brakes and horn. No other requirements. We have vehicle inspections but if you have the above you pass. This week I am moving up and will have a working speedometer, tachometer and a bunch of other stuff with my Trail Tech Vapor.

I don't get to ride my bikes, but I still have my snowmobile to play around on in the winter. It gets to be an expensive hobby, too. Hopefully it won't cut into my bike rebuild fund too much.

I'm glad I got my bikes put away, since we just got 6 inches of snow yesterday!

Here in Oklahoma, we have pretty mild winters.......not bad enough to put the bikes in hibernation mode. Usually just a handful of days in December, January and February that it is too cold to ride, not counting the rain or snow. But, if you'll look at the fella's post from Germany, he's got knobbies and rides in the deep snow........no candy in his pant's pockets! Brrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr.
