I have an SR500 with an aftermarket Mikuni VM 36 carb. I have been using a stock petcock, the problem was that there was no vacuum fitting on the side of the carb. The other issue was that the stock petcock has the fuel outlet at the bottom and the carb has fuel inlet pointing upward instead of horizontal. So I have no reserve fuel on the bike and the fuel line has to have a S-shaped bend in it to make connection.
I thought that a new petcock would be nice. I think I have found a near perfect replacement. I got it from partsnmore.com It is a standard petcock and an adapter plate to make it fit the fuel tank. The fuel outlet is adaptable to either a horizontal or vertical configuration. Cost was $40 including shipping.

I made an adapter plate from a spare piece of 1/4" alum and drilled/taped the center hole to fit a common 1/4" ball valve.Made a paper gasket and sealed it with permatex.been on there 10 years and has never leaked. No reserve though...cost me maybe 10bux

NS Man sounds cheap enough. Having a reserve is a good thing too. Perhaps you could tap for two valves and solder a stand pipe on one for a main valve.
Kinda like my old Trumpet Tiger. I remember a time where I was new to it and it hit reserve at night for the first time. I was in a river valley. I turned the reserve petcock on and got another few hundred yards before sputtering to a halt. I pushed the beast up hill for half a mile then another mile on the flat to a station. It was closed but I siphoned a dribble out out of every pump. Enough to get me another couple of miles to an open station. Turns out the previous owner had replaced the reserve petcock and put in main petcock with the extension on it.

Your conversion kit is sweet. Would make a good alternative.
My old petcock was quite impacted with dried resin. Nothing moved.

Alternately why not buy the manifold with a vacuum take off. They are available cheaply enough. Failing that drill your manifold and fit a vacuum take off. QED
