Went for a quick trip to the market to pick up a couple of items last evening. Bunggied everything up tight and gave the 'ol girl a kick. And nothing. Of course I had an audience. There was a guy on a newer BMW I'd spoke to earlier coming out just in time for the show. Kicked again. And again....again....again.. . Nothing. I used my sure fire trick on a flooded SR; pull in the comp release and kick it over until it "farts" and then kick as usual. But this time nothing. The Beemer guy is giving me all kinds of advice but I'm pretty sure he hasn't kick started a bike in 20 years. Now I generally don't have a problem starting Yamaha 500 singles altho I've had my moments. I've owned three; one XT and two SR's. This called for drastic measures. The parking lot had a good long down slope so I gave a her a good push, hopped on clicked her up into 2nd and popped the clutch. Got her turning over nicely but not a pop. Nothing on the next try, or the next, or the next. WTF!!? I was only a mile and a half from home and first solid mile is all down hill but I was getting worried that I had spark problem. I knew I couldn't pull the plug with my Leatherman so trouble shooting would have to wait. So I'm rolling down that mile long hill popping the clutch and "engine braking" every time I get up to 15mph or so. After about 3/4 of a mile of this I've pretty much given up and am dreading the last 1/2 mile home as this is all UP! a STEEP! hill when, pop POP Verrroommmm!! I was thankful but again, WTF? Got up this AM and she started fine as usual. Don't ask me. I haven't a clue.
I still love her though.
