hey guys i have a 78 sr and it will not charge. what is the first thing for me to check. or is there a way that i can check if the regulator is good or bad?

Hallo,
you can check the rectifier/regulator by measuring volts on black& red with a running engine and /or mesuring resistance from the generator coils:on the yellow/white wire 0.73 ohm and the other yellow/white wire 0.73 ohm and white /white wire 0.80 ohm all @ 20 degrees celsius with disconnected connector /engine off.
