Has anyone looked into importing an SR400 directly from Japan? If this is a possibility it may be a viable option but the red tape involved is the thing that frightens me - has one ever appeared on e-bay?

Can be done, but why would ya? The reason I ask that question is that I saw 4 advertised in Motorcycle Trader this month from $3700. So, why would ya? The only thing is, I'm not sure abouit the compliance plate issues. Buuuttt.........when I registered my XT500 the form asked if a) the bike was built 1985 or later, and b) if so, does it have an Australian compliance plate? Since the boys who run the TT/Xt muster down in the Barossa are registering early TT's to their hearts content without plates, one has to surmise you can get away with it, in South Oz at least. Mick

d**n this problem with the enter key. Trying to finish what I was trying to say here! What I was getting at was, you can probably procure a reasonable SR400 in Australia without going through all the hassles and dramas. Unless you have your eye on a very specific model. I must admit its tempting to bring in a very late model one. Now I'm finished what I was trying to say. Where's that "post reply" button? Mick
