My SR has finally arrived at my place. It is alot better looking in standard trim than I originally thought.
I do plan to modify her at some point in the future ( a bit of a bobber/cafe mongrel) but for right now I will be happy with just getting it on the road. Unfortunately a lifetime of working on two stroke italian scooters means that I am flying completely blind when it comes to even a single cylinder four stroke.
Is there anyone from Melbourne on here that might have a spare few hours to go over her and let me know exactly what I need to do to get her fired up and on the road?? I will happily keep the beers and pizzas flowing. I dont need someone to actually do the work, but just someone that knows their way around an SR and can help me make a to do list.
I will make sure I get to the next SR club meeting but it would be absolutely brilliant if I could ride her there.

I know very little compared to most, but I'll gladly go over for a look at the bearings, clearences, cam chain brakes etc. The SR is a fantastically simple bugger. I'll PM you my number if you want me to take a look!

Hi there,
I also know a little about the SR and live in Melbourne.
Where in Melbourne (suburb) are you?
I am planning to go to the Italian day at the Exhibition Buildings, there will be lots of bikes there, mainly Duke's. There will probably be some guys from the SR club, there was last year. It is next Sunday 9th November. I will be on my red 1980 SR. I will be with a friend who has restored a 1981 SR. Between us we may be able to help.
Cheers, MikeC.

Again don't know much, though I've done most of the work on my SR, guided by the forum here and the manuals, happy to meet, kick a tyre, and maybe give one pointer or so... Marlon has my number.
I'm riding this Sunday - didn't realise the festival was on again...probably won't be there unless I get back from the ride early or head off later. Mike what time are you planning on heading down?
(Marlon, interested in a ride Sunday?)

Hi Matt,
I think we will be there about 9:30am, and will park in the area off Rathdown street beside the Museum.
We will probably be there untill lunch time.
I'm not sure what my friend will be riding, but I'll be on my SR. Where are you riding to?
Maybe see you there, at the Exhibition Buildings that is.
Cheers, Mike.

I will probably come along to italian day. I will be riding a ratty red Lambretta with a loud annoying expansion chamber on it, either that or I will be on a red vespa px200 with a battered left hand side panel. Will be good to meet some fellow Sr people.

Riding off into the Yarra Ranges somewhere - if I'm alone I'll see where the mood takes me. I've decided to stop by the Festival at 10am first, will enter via Rathdowne St and keep my eye out for you - will most likely be riding the SR (otherwise the GR650).

Did you get down there Raff? It was great to meet you Mike! Raff, if you saw a very clean 18,000km red SR it was Mike's, and mine was a black SR with higher bars and a bicycle mirror. Russel (the BSA-styled red-tanked SR) and Nick from the Club were also there. Somebody rocked up on a Deus SR as well (judging by the size of the tank I assume they didn't come from far!). Marlon, did you come? I headed out to the Black and Reefton Spurs and a few other roads afterwards, even did some rainforest dirt biking Notice the nice Ducati singles?!

Hi Raff,
Sorry I didn't see you at the Italian day, I did catch up with Matt though.
There is a display of bikes this Sunday (Nov 23rd) on the Williamstown foreshore, called "Bikes on the Bay", Matt said he may be able to make it and I will try and get there also.
Do you still need someone to help with going over your SR?
Cheers, MikeC.

Bikes on the bay is well worthwhile - a great cross section of bikes there. If you're cunning or have something that looks old or is dropping oil you can just ride it straight in and park it next to the VJMC guys.

Sorry I haven't gotten back to people. Thanks so much for the offers of help, I have spent the last couple of weeks in hospital with pluracy and pneumonia. Do yourself a favour if you get a dose of this flu that seems to hang around for a few weeks in some form ort another hit it with a heavy duty dose of anti biotics. I have alway been very anti anti biotics but if I had taken care of this flu earlier rather than counting on my immune system taking care of it I wouldn't have spent close to a week on oxygen.

Hi Raff,
Sorry to hear about your illness, what a bummer!
What suburb of Melbourne are you living in?
Hope you are recovering and feeling better now...
Cheers, MikeC.
