Just a little personal background . . . I've been riding for over 25 years, and have had the SR since 1983. I remarried a couple years ago, and the new wife just got her motorcycle license and bought a bike for herself. No, it's not a thumper, but it's a clean Honda Nighthawk. It has been nice riding two-up, but it's even more fun riding together with each having their own bike. I'm just ecstatic to have a woman that likes to do the same things I do. . . . . of course, some of you guys might think this a curse? Dale

. . . . of course, some of you guys might think this a curse? My partner rides too - indeed I get to commute on her bike (the SR is a horrible bike to commute on!), and her bike is bigger than mine: Suzuki GR650. It can be a curse, when she gets cranky out on the ride; or regarding the constant worry I feel for her safety - motorbikes are dangerous!

Actually, I really like commuting on the SR. Mine gets between 70 and 80 mpg (US), and is competent up to 70 mph. I'm at the age where 70 mph is about fast enough for a thrill.
I certainly understand the concern for her safety, though. I feel the same way when we ride together. I feel like I'm responsible for the safety for both of us . . . My "other" bike is a BMW K100RS. Like the SR, it is built like a tank and has been dead bolt reliable for over 15 years.
My wife is just ecstatic to be riding her own bike, so the honeymoon period is still "glowing". She hasn't gotten cranky yet. The GS 650 has a pretty good reputation, although I haven't ridden one. I hope your rides together continue to be enjoyable.
