I have a decided dislike for the stock SR bars. Too high, too far back.
I bought material to build clipons last month but decided to trial some flat bars first. built onto the stock rubber mounts.
I first built some single bend bars from chromo 4130 with a 3.5" bend back from center. The were 30" wide. The only bend is in the middle. Just cut the metal part way through bend them and weld the gap.
After a short ride I realized that they didnt have enough angle on them to be comfortable. My next incarnation, I decreased the width from the end to end to 28" and increased the depth to 5". The center does not hit the key and perhaps a further increase in the angle is available.
I keep eyeing my titled Honda VTR 250 rolling chassis sitting in my shop just waiting for a thumper conversion. The motor will fit. The frame is steel, my speed.
