Hi Guys I finished my exhaust today and want your opinions, I think it's a little long but I will listen to you guys before I do any more. I can't change the length of the header but I can probably take about 100mm out of the length of the muffler to bring the whole thing back a bit. I just sat the seat on there to show a comparison, mounting it will be next. By the way the exhaust sounds unbelievable. Cheers Rich

Looks OK to me, but if it was mine, I'd cut about a foot off the end of the header. Can you define "unbelievable"? Loud?
I like the wheel treatment..........

Hi Sooner Because of the way the header comes under the motor the position of my rearsets and that my foot only just clears the muffler when I am kick starting I am not able to shorten the header (believe me I have tried I cut and reangled and re tacked it plenty). so I figure if I pull the muffler apart and shorten it so it ends at about the back of the seat it will look more in balance. "unbelievable" yes loud but kind of deep and mellow like a bevel drive Ducati, nice.
Cheers Rich

It looks good to me. Your total exhaust length is probably about the length of a stock SR500 system. The stock system must be about 6-8" longer than it appears to be because of the little side box premuffler muffler. 'Some" maybe all of the exhaust takes a side trip thru that box. I can't remember if all or some of the exhaust goes thru the side box; my guess is that all of it does, but its been a long time since I looked. The stocker peaks at 6500 RPM,so that length must be right for 6500 RPMs. Charlie

Nice work Rich
When its coated I think it will look very similar to some of the Over racing pipes I've seen, which look tops.

I think it looks quite good as is & personally I wouldn't shorten the muffler(my Laverda's got termi's on it & thats how the pipes work ,under the motor & they come out just before the swingarm around & up)just how you've got it! (It stops them from catching on the road)& it would also work with a fairing too . The other good point about the carbon muffler is the fact that it doesn't get hot & they sound insane on both idle & 6000rpm .Seen as you cant get around the kickstart you've got to allow for it & that is exactly what you've done (good workmanship)cheers Dave.
