Does anybody have any suggestions as to where I could get a SS front brake line (1 piece). Mikes XS seems to be out of stock and everywhere else I look, all they have are lines for newer models, nothing retro, go figure.
Also, Mikes XS is also out of stock for front master cylinders. I'd like to get a new one, complete unit, rather than rebuild the one I have. Any ideas?

Any good car brake specialist, should be able to custom make stainless brake hoses for a SR500.
The set I run on my SR racer were made by a car brake specialist in Adelaide, using Goodridge hose and fittings and were tested and certified to Australia Design Rules (a requirement for all motor vehicle brake hoses here in Australia) by them. They even offered me a choice of colours for the protective sheathing over the hoses!
If it can be done here in Aus, it should be able to be done in the US of A.

I checked Thumperstuff last night but I just grazed over the site, had a combination of being tired and frustration going on. I'll have to do a more thorough search.
I really like what they had on Mike's, everything was complete and the price was right. I guess it was too good to be true.

John: I bought a new MC from Mike's XS a little while back. My model is an '80, and has a disc on the front, drum on the rear. The OEM master cylinder has a number on the bottom of it, and that is the bore size.....mine was a 14. I bought the only unit he offers with a 14 bore ( no mirror thread and is for a slanted handlebar). It is perfect for my application...Euro bar and end mirror. If I wasn't so lazy, I'd look the number up in my file. Mike relies on you to make the order on line and offers virtually no help through eMail. He caters to the XS owners, since that is his core customer base. Be sure of what you are ordering and if it will really fit our SR. I'm sure a Forum member will assist if you ask.
Hope this helped!

Also, many Yamaha dealers offer OEM parts for our bikes on line. I needed quite a few OEM parts and if I bought from K&N Yamaha here in Tulsa on line, I received a 20% discount. Go to www.knmotorcycles.com. and go through the matrix. They will ship direct from Yamaha to your door.....in my case, I just picked up my orders at the dealership....no freight. If you want to restore your SR in stock form, it is invaluable and if it says "call" by the part, they might have one in stock or it might be temporarily on back order. Ask for Pat if you do call.....Tyler is very young and green, and knows very little about these older bikes.

I don't advise this for everyone (yourself be the judge of your own skills) But I just get hose and fittings from Earls and make up my own. They also sell complete hoses. www.anplumbing.com/

They also sell complete hoses. www.anplumbing.com/+1 for Earl's. I ordered stainless line and a whole bunch of fittings from them for a fuel line setup on my car. Great service and shipping. They did manage to forget something when they shipped it, but I called and it was immediately sent out.

Thanks for all the info guys, keep it coming. I took a little time to look over Thumperstuff and lo and behold, a stainless steel brake line. Think I'll go for it.
I thought about going with the OEM M/C, but by the time you order all the seperate pieces, your in way over for what Mike charges. I sent an e-mail to Mikes today and a rep got back pretty quick. Impressive. He said they'd get more stock in a week or two. We'll see. Again, thanks.

Dennis Kirk also has end fittings and various lengths of hose that bolt onto the fittings. I went that way and am happy with the result.

What exactly do you need to order from Earls to make a brake line? I called and they said they didnt do make specific lines. Thanks, Chris

Thanks, Chris All you need to know is what length and what type of ends you need. They have quite a few premade lines but you will need to know what you want. They don't list them per application. I'm sure it will be cheaper than $55.00

So from what I can gather I need to know the length and the angle of the adapters. It seems they are all 10mm. Do I need anything else?
