Hi all. Bit of advise needed from those in the know.
I'm changing over a few bits and pieces on the bike at the moment, and have sheared a bolt flush. What's everyone's foolproof method to get the d**n thing out? I thought I'd ask before I dive in...

Spot drill the end of the busted bolt, then find a left hand drill bit and see if you can twist it out of there. I've also drilled and tapped through the busted bolt and double nutted another bolt inside of it and turned it out.

Chase, buy yourself a good set of easyouts, go to a decent engineering suppliers IE:- coventry fastners for them don't buy the elcheapo auto shop ones. Drill the centre of the bolt to the size recommend for the easyout. good ones will tell you. I'f you not sure or worried out doing more harm than good, there are a couple of good mobile thread guys in sydney. Usally charge around $100. Curly

Chase, Yes, a good set of easy-outs and, if you can get them, a cobalt drill bit of the apropriate size for the EZ out. Take a center punch to put a dimple in the broken shank before you start. The cobalt bit will make it easier to get into the shank of the bolt without walking to one side. Go slow and easy and don't rush. Good luck.
